    Description

I buy vintage linens at local estate auctions to pass them along to you, and here's the deal:  I have WAY TOO MUCH inventory.  So I'm initiating some new policies in 2021 and lowering my prices to try to make a dent in my stash.  The quality has not changed; these are still good quality linens - I just need to pass them along.  Please make an offer if you're interested, and let me know if you're looking for something special.
This is a small antique lace day cap for girls or a small woman.  It is made of a fabric woven with all-over lace patterns - the fiber is hard to identify, possibly fine cotton.  It is ivory in color and is constructed much like a baby bonnet with a slight brim and an inset in the back; all around the neck edge there is tulle ruffle with a lace edge.  The lacey patterns are quite pretty - please see the closeup photos.
measurements: 16" around face edge; 1.5" width of tulle neck band; 5.5" width at top; about 5" length of back inset
I have handwashed and pressed this.  The fabric is very soft and lightweight and without stains, but there is considerable damage.  The original chin ties are missing, as is a bit of the tulle neck cover.  There are several torn connectors in the tulle.  I have tried to show the damage in the last several photos.
This is a rare survivor, and it retains its beauty.  I'm hoping someone will be able to use this for study or display.
