Victorian Style Red Roses Bow Buckle Trim Wide Brim Poke Bonnet Hat
This vintage Victorian era style red rose bow buckle trim wide brim poke bonnet hat has an early 19th century inspired design. The hat is hand made by the late milliner Ruth Stockley in the 1980s, she was the foremost authority on the design and construction of 20th century millinery. It is made of a radiant red color taffeta fabric with ruched ruffle pleated gathers covering the front brim and red taffeta covering the entire hat. There are red and white roses silk flower trimmings on both sides, red tulle net covering and a large red ribbon bow with antique mother of pearl buckle trim accent on the bottom back. This beautiful bonnet regency style poke hat has an upturned wavy wide brim with ruched pleated gathered fabric underneath, a round crown which is fully lined and would have sat atop a large full Gibson Girl style updo hairdo secured with long hat pins. There is an "Made Especially For You By Ruth Stockley" custom label sewn inside. It has been beautifully made with quality craftsmanship and detail. The hat measures 21 inches inside crown circumference, with a 4 inch wide front brim and is 5 inches deep inside the crown. It is in excellent condition. This is truly an amazing ladies Victorian era inspired reproduction hat!
