Description
REGAL SILVER SEDAN CHAIR.  Exquisitely fashioned after an early French Royal conveyance.  Touches of Rococo design, along with delicate embossed florals and vines accentuate all four sides.
The front panel is decorated with a French basket weave motif.  Little "feet" curve out at each corner to add stability when at rest.  Side windows are open, and sturdy bars are attached at each side.  Crowned with a Fantastical Finial, so that no doubt can be expressed that this is, indeed, meant for a very special occupant.
Hallmarks on the bottom of the piece indicate, we believe, that it came from Glasgow, Scotland.  Side by side Lion Rampant symbols, left facing in a banner style frame, and right facing in a shield.  Beautifully crafted with exquisite detail.  Purchased in a London antique silver market many years ago by the collector.
Measurements are as follows:  Sedan Chair is 1 3/8" deep, just over 1" wide, and 2 1/2" tall to top of finial.  Side carrier bars are 2 1/2" long.
