Nestico’s brings viral TikTok lasagna to North Syracuse (Dining Out Review)

North Syracuse, N.Y. — There is a particular picture in your head when you read the word “lasagna.” A large square of layered pasta and cheese — and possibly meat or vegetables — topped with mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. It’s Italian-American comfort food and most have a favorite recipe or restaurant version — for the record, mine is Chef’s in Buffalo — they crave for that soul-warming feeling.
Breaking the mold locally is Nestico’s in North Syracuse. Inspired by a viral NYC preparation, it pivots away from the pasta-and-cheese brick and presents a platter of lasagna pinwheels in the Baked Lasagna Don Angie ($23). Sheets of pasta are lined with Italian sausage, rolled, and baked in tomato sauce. Whipped ricotta cheese is piped into the dish to finish it.
